It is our goal here at On The Mark to offer top quality genetics that work for not only you but those that buy your calves.
We strive to make moderate efficient cows that thrive, not only on irrigated pastures, but on the mountain range as well as the high desert range that surrounds us. Our cows are expected to calve unassisted, breed back in a reasonable time frame and wean a calf that weighs more than half of her body weight.
Hybrid vigor not only increases weaning weights, but it also increases fertility as well as overall health. We use Simmental, Angus and Sim Angus genetics to provide the best cattle. They are raised on grass and their mom's milk. We don't creep feed or supplement our calves. After weaning, our bulls are fed by a third party where they compete in a feedlot.
We strive to provide the bulls that are not only from proven genetics but individually proven and tested as well. Our bulls will not only add pounds on sale day, but they will make cows that will work for you.
When I first saw Simmental bulls crossed on Angus cows, it was easy to see Simmentals add a lot of value.
The hybrid vigor that comes from the SimAngus cross has so many benefits, not just pounds on weaning day, but overall health, fertility and longevity.
The genetics we use are the best we could find. Whether buying heifers from multiple states or embryos from other seed stock producers, we always chose the best we could find. Not everything we tried worked, but most did and those have made huge strides towards achieving our goals.
We find value in using proven sires that have progeny that you can see and compare. Some of our customers graze as high as 11,500 feet in elevation, others graze in lower arid range lands that have their own unique challenges. This proves our genetics add a lot of value wherever they are used.
We are excited and gratefule for the opportunity to help you succeed in your operation.
The Wineglass brand was first registered in 1919 by William Davies. Since then the Davies Ranch has been known for honesty and integrity. Our Great Grandpa Willie originally homesteaded in Talmage Utah in 1911. In 1947 Willie and his son John R bought the home ranch here in Duchesne. John R raised his family and a commercial cattle herd here and in ’96 John R’s son, Dwayne bought the ranch. Dwayne and Margaret Davies raised their five kids on the ranch, teaching them the value of hard work and continuing on the legacy that the Davies family started. In ‘98 Dwayne saw the need to AI and we have continued to do so since then to improve the genetics of our herd. In the summer our cows run in a high altitude of up to 10,000 ft. The ranch is now a 400+ acre operation and has been worked by five generations. In 2019 their son Ty and son-in-law Paden began running the operation. They are working hard to continue the legacy and grow the herd. Our ranch works hard to breed to the top AI bulls. Over the years we have found a passion for raising Angus and Simmental breeds as well as raising our own show steers for our kids. Our cows have to work for their living. By doing so they make the next genetics for your herd. Paden and Jacquie Duncan have three beautiful girls Macquie K, MyLee J, and McCall Rae. Tyrel and Stephanie Davies have seven amazing kids; Texas Rose, William Truxton, Gatlin R, Brigham Martin, Hyrum Chase, Keary Lou, and Briar Rees. Our kids work the ranch alongside their parents and Grandparents. They enjoy showing livestock and being a part of their family’s legacy. We love the cattle industry and hope to help your legacy continue with ours.
